ORIX Auto Infrastructure Services Ltd has also got in an air-conditioned Radio Taxi service under the name 'Kolkata’.
It is the only city in the country to have a tram network. Run under the administration of Calcutta Tramways Company, they are claimed to slow down other traffic. This apparently leads to groups who presently are voicing to abolish the trams. But for the first time visitors, travelling via tram is truly an unforgettable experience.
The city is well-connected to all other Indian cities by widespread railway network divided as the Eastern Railway and the South Eastern Railway which are both headquartered in the city. The two main railway stations are at Howrah and Sealdah. Kolkata is the third terminal constructed recently. Tickets can be booked both online and at the station counters.
It was the first city to have an underground rail system. The metro in Kolkata is extremely clean and well maintained. The present Kolkata metro line is underground because of which it stands quite different from the Delhi Metro and Bangalore metro that are over-ground.
Kolkata is also a chief port and collectively with the Haldia dock systems, Kolkata Port Trust has been among the highest performers in India. It has steady passenger services to Port Blair from the Netaji Subhas Docks.

National Library: Located at the Belvedere Estate, it is quite near to the Alipore Zoo in Kolkata and happens to be the largest library in India. It used to be the residence of the former Lieutenant Governor of West Bengal. The library contains almost 2 million books and half a million documents
